Rooted Counseling Services Effective Date: 01/01/2021 Last Updated: 09/14/2026

Welcome to rootedcounselingservices.com (the "Site"), owned and operated by Rooted Counseling Services ("Rooted," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Site. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. About Rooted Counseling Services

Rooted Counseling Services is a mental health private practice providing counseling and related clinical services to clients from childhood through late adulthood. We accept private insurance and MassHealth (Medicaid) for eligible clients. Nothing on this Site establishes a clinician-client relationship — that relationship begins only once you have completed our intake process and been accepted as a client.

2. Not a Substitute for Emergency Care

This Site is for general informational purposes only and does not provide medical or psychiatric advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or crisis, do not use this Site to seek help. Call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Email, contact forms, and other communications through this Site are not monitored in real time and are not appropriate for urgent or emergency situations.

3. Confidentiality and Protected Health Information

We take your privacy seriously.

  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or health information with third parties for marketing purposes.

  • Information you share with us as a client — including anything discussed in session, in intake forms, or in clinical records — is protected health information under HIPAA and is kept confidential in accordance with our Notice of Privacy Practices and applicable Massachusetts and federal law.

  • We only disclose client information without consent in the limited circumstances permitted or required by law (for example, imminent risk of harm to self or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, or a valid court order).

  • Communications submitted through general website forms, email, or online scheduling (as opposed to your secure client portal, where available) may not be fully encrypted or secure. Please avoid sending sensitive clinical details through unsecured channels, and let your clinician know if you have concerns.

  • For the full details of how we collect, use, and protect health information, please see our [Notice of Privacy Practices] and [Privacy Policy].

4. Eligibility and Minors

Clients under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian complete intake and consent to treatment on their behalf, consistent with Massachusetts law. By submitting information through this Site on behalf of a minor, you represent that you are the minor's parent or legal guardian, or otherwise have legal authority to consent to their care.

5. Insurance and Billing

We are in-network with a number of insurance carriers, including MassHealth. Coverage, copays, deductibles, and reimbursement depend on your specific plan, and benefits quoted by us or by your insurer are not a guarantee of payment. You remain responsible for any fees not covered by your insurance, in accordance with the financial policy you agree to at intake.

6. Use of the Site

You agree to use this Site only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • Use the Site in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it, or interfere with anyone else's use;

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site, other accounts, or connected systems;

  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access or collect data from the Site without our permission;

  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information through any form on the Site.
